Collection of 60 vintage photographs from the 1948 film noir, with one photograph here under the working title "Martin Rome," and eight photographs here under the working title "The Law and Martin Rome." The collection includes 53 keybook photographs, with a comb-binding punch to the top edge, 52 of which are affixed to each other back to back, totaling 26 leaves of back-to-back keybook photographs, one individual keybook photograph, and seven other individual photographs. The 60 photographs in the collection include 47 reference photographs, six film still photographs, six portrait photographs, and one publicity photograph of Richard Conte and Shelley Winters. Eight of the keybook photographs with a provenance sticker on the recto, one with a a red and white "do not use - scene out of picture" sticker on the recto, and one photograph with a mimeo snipe and one photograph with a provenance sticker on the versos. Two photographs with an erratum paste-up to the title in the bottom margin of the recto. Based on the 1947 novel "The Chair for Martin Rome" by Henry Edward Helseth. Richard Conte stars as hardened criminal and jewel thief Marty Rome, wounded and in the hospital following a shoot out which left a police officer dead, when he is implicated in another murder and jewelry heist by a sleazy lawyer. Following Rome's partial recovery and escape, in an attempt to recover the jewels and flee, he's pursued by his childhood friend, a conflicted hard-nosed New York detective played by Victor Mature. Set in and shot on location in New York City. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine overall, with light edgewear and chipping to some of the comb-binding punched holes at the top edge. BFI BD-25. Grant US.
