1842 William Wilberforce Practical View + Memoir England Slavery Slave Abolition William Wilberforce was an 18th-century British politician who is best remembered for his role in helping abolish slave trade in the western world. His campaign to abolish slavery led to the Slavery Abolition Act in 1833, which inspired author Thomas Price to publish a memoir highlighting Wilberforce s role in the slavery abolition. This 1842 printing of Wilberforce s Practical View of the Prevailing Religious System was published in London by Scott and Webster. At the end of the 18th-century Wilberforce was a staunch supporter of the evangelistic efforts of the Church of England and to this, he published this exposition on the New Testament. Practical View offered realistic practices for Protestants and charged Great Britain to turn from immorality and return to Christianity.
