Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Jeanne Guyon (1648 1717) wrote from the depth of her own spiritual
experiences. Growing up in France during the decadent times of Louis XIV,
she was devout at an early age, but was then caught up in the worldliness
around her. After an arranged marriage at age fifteen, she became increasingly
interested in spiritual things; and, for the rest of her life, she continued to seek
God diligently, teach others, and write books on Christian devotion. These
books have become Christian classics. Guyon paid a heavy price for her views
and her writings. Throughout her life, she underwent various trials, including
persecution and imprisonment for her beliefs. Her commentary on Song of
Songs was used against her and led to her imprisonment.
