Synopsis

About the Author
A historian of the American West, Richard A. Bartlett recently published a book of nonfiction, The World of Ham Radio, 1901-1950: A Social History. His book, Great Surveys of the American West won the Spur Award of the Western Writers of America for the best nonfiction western book of the year and The New Country: A Social History of the American Frontier was a choice of the History Book Club. He is the author of Nature’s Yellowstone, Yellowstone: A Wilderness Besieged, From Cody to the World: The First Seventy-Five Years of the Buffalo Bill Memorial Association, and Troubled Waters: Champion International and the Pigeon River Controversy, and a novel, Yellowstone Holiday. A native of Colorado, currently, he is a professor emeritus of Florida State University, where he taught the American West for thirty-four years.
