As special needs parents you are scared of your child's future. First you're shocked when you hear that your child is disabled. You're afraid because you don't know what the future holds for your child, so you have to let it soak in. You find out what their limitations will be, and you do your best to see that they reach and go as far as possible according to their limitations. Like me, you may feel shocked and have a lot of questions about how you are going to take care of your child. The Doctors and the Therapist will show you what to do to take care of your child. You will learn what type of special needs your child has, and you will survive. Love and faith will brighten your child's future. You have to have faith that your child will be alright. Faith is hope. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Love that child with all that is within you. God would not have given you that special child to take care of if he didn't think you could handle it. Special children are also a gift from God. They have so much love to give. I have written this book as a special needs parent. I want to let other special parents know that they are not alone in this journey. My hope is that you will be encouraged by what you've read. About 29 years ago, Patricia Story heard from the doctors your child has a T2 Spinal Cord Injury and 10 years later, your daughter has CMV. She went through many years talking to doctors, trips to physical therapy and negotiating with teachers. Now she wants to give parental advice and share experiences to countless parents in similar situations on how to raise children with disabilities. Her daughter, Tameka is now a filmmaker and married with two kids. Her other daughter, Deanna was loved and lived beyond her life expectancy but passed at 17 years of age. Everyone who knows Mrs. Story have complimented her parenting skills and how successful her child, Tameka is now. She is married and has two other children without disabilities.
