Synopsis

When the empire of Thiven is attacked by barbarians, Theadus and Sayven are turned around in their search for greatness. Battling internal and external forces, they fight their enemies one by one. This story follows their epic involvement in the development of the Thiven Empire’s greatest warriors, the Knights of Soil. “Something was wrong. While before, Theadus had felt so superior, now he felt more humbled than he thought someone could be. His eyes had been opened to a new power, and they could not be closed again. He tried so hard to push it aside, but it had been made clear that there was more to strength than victory in battle. Theadus wanted this strength, but he was not sure what it was. He had seen it many times from Arusen, but still the basis for it was unclear to him, or he just didn’t want it to be clear...” The Knights of Soil follows the epic tale of two barbarians, Theadus and Sayven. In their search for greatness, these two lead a secret invasion on their neighboring country of Thiven. However, after taking one of its greatest fortresses captive, they soon come to the realization that this has all been a great mistake. Their thirst for conquest is turned around, when a captive named Arusen shows them that there is something far greater to live for than conquest. Turning against their own army, Theadus and Sayven are thrust into a conflict greater than they could have imagined. They find themselves aiding those who were once their enemies in a fight against a vast barbarian horde. With only a small band of warriors, they challenge the barbarian army to battle one by one in the hopes of stalling them from their expansion. But with such a tight situation at hand and the uneasiness rapidly spreading, this conflict is destined to break out into something far more extravagant. The Knights of Soil takes readers into a world just to the back of our own. In a land referred to by its inhabitants as The Great Island, there are three regions: to the north, the vile, goblin war-states, to the east, the Thiven Empire, and to the west, the untamed barbarian free-lands. On the border of the Thiven Empire and the barbarian lands, is a fortress by the name of Thiven Seax. It sits immediately before a great river and is surrounded by dark woodlands. This is the setting for the majority of the story. It is mythical land filled with dark arts, great beasts, and peculiar beings. The culture of the Great Island is greatly based off of medieval Europe, but it still holds its own unique societies and views. Though the events of this story take place in a fictional world, the message is meant to hold true to the struggles we face on earth. Building on themes of strength, hope, and grace, The Knights of Soil takes a creative look at the struggles of the human spirit.
