About the Author
Heather Burleigh Jacobs is resilient. At the age of 13 she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Without any warning her life changed. Learning to manage a chronic illness, and the emotional turmoil that comes with the disease, has been a journey. Now at the age of 17, she decided to write this book, and share what, up until now, has been private. When Heather was diagnosed, she felt alone. Now, she wants to share her journey, her fears and frustrations so that others are not afraid to tell their story and do not feel alone. Ulcerative Colitis is a disease that is not openly spoken about, because the symptoms are embarrassing. But, the colon is just another part of the body so why not talk about it.
