About the Author
Born in Largs, Scotland, at the outbreak of World War II, the author has always been curious about the chancy nature of life. Over seventy years of rapid social changes, his architect experience, worldwide travel, and his observation of flora and fauna have developed an awareness of the fragile nature of the planet and of our vulnerability to excessive, rapid growth. The war resulted in loss of his father and uprooting his family to Sutton Coldfield, England. His concerns have inspired him to write about aspirations and why they are so difficult to achieve. He is convinced that desires to grow and prosper have to be moderated to become compatible with the earth's limited capacity to provide. He has come to believe the power of science to enhance innovation, growth, and prosperity has blinded us all to our ultimate reliance on the good health of our planet.
