She is a cofounder of the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies and the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, where she lives and teaches. She is the author of Lovingkindness, A Heart As Wide As the World, and, on audio, Lovingkindness Meditation and A Heart As Wide As the World.
Based on the Buddhist practice of staying connected to life'srealities, this six-step meditation process develops our capacity tolove what is real in the world--and especially what is real in otherpeople. Peaceful acceptance of life eliminates the mental struggle ofloving the world as it is without desiring to change it. This is anaspect of Buddhist teaching that Salzberg knows well and teaches withrelaxed familiarity. Her voice and deep compassion for those who mightbenefit from this message make her words sound nurturing. She iscomfortable and self-assured with these ideas. An inspiring andsurprisingly practical resource for people with too much struggle intheir lives. T.W. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
