Thomas P. Tunney, brother of former heavyweight champion of the world Gene Tunney, was himself a boxer in his youth, and received the title of best amateur boxer when he won a fight in Madison Square Garden. He, however, chose to become one of New York's finest in the early 20's , and solved several high-profile cases during the 20's, 30's, and 40's. The cases are told in detail, and feature celebrities such as Gene Tierney, Madame Ladyfinger (aka Madeline Webb) and others. The sources for this biography are newspaper articles of that day, and interviews with those who knew him. It's a fascinating story about the events that shaped Tom and his famous career as a first grade detective in the "silk stocking" district ie. the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
