The attack on Ragut tells the story of a young Gendarmerie, Kistemaeker, of the Royal Military Police from Nijmegen, who entered the service on 3 February 1936 as an unpaid constable of the Municipal Police Zaandam. On 10th May, 1940 World War II broke out. Kistemaeker was aware of the risks of the profession since his good friend was a policeman. On 21st June, 1944, the captain of the police at Ragut was killed by the resistance and Kistemaeker was the first agent on site. According to his relatives, Kistemaeker put a hit out for the perpetrator. Although the author has identified many historical documents, the identity of the attacker still remains a mystery... Henk Taai (Zaandam, 1972) wrote this book about his grandfather. His grandfather was a policeman during World War II who never chose to side with the Germans. To restore his grandfather's honor, Henk Taai has written, "The Attack on Ragut."
