Rosalee Brookes was born in Hamilton, New Zealand, and grew up during the Second World War in the small coalmining township of Pukemiro in the Waikato. Her working life revolved around reception and communication having spent three years as a telephone operator in the WRNZAF. A talented artist, she has been commissioned and exhibited extensively. This Same Flower is her second novel and fifth book including the set of four Waikato Coalmining history books.
