Barry was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago called Lincolnwood, and attended Northwestern University, where he honed his comedy skills and ultimately became the Counselor of Love. After years of touring and headlining in many comedy shows, and becoming a regular at the famous Improve, he got his shot at the big time, appearing on the Tonight Show. In his teens, Barry was the goaltender for the Midwest Champion Evanston Wildkats Hockey Team and played in Europe, representing the United States. It was during this European experience that he learned to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballpark" in German. While attending Northwestern University, Barry performed with their IMPROV troupe, the ME-OW show. Their director, Dan Patterson, Executive Producer of "Who's Line Is It Anyway," took the troupe to Scotland to perform in the Edinburgh Festival where the troupe had a successful run and received critical acclaim. After college, Barry moved to Los Angeles where he began his professional stand-up career. After two years as a road comic in such hot spots like Moscow, Idaho and Lake Ontanagon, Michigan, Barry became a regular at THE IMPROV. He performed on numerous television shows including The Tonight Show, A&E'S An Evening at the Improv, MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour, Fox Sports and Comedy Central's Short Attention Span Theatre. Along the way, Barry began dating a beautiful princess he adored from afar during his college days. After a five year whirlwind romance, they made their living arrangement official by marrying in 1993. Happily married to his best friend, the nondescript Barry has become The Counselor of Love, sharing with his own humorous style the keys to a successful partnership. This book is compiled from Barry's 5-volume set of DVDs on the subject, which is also available. Details can be seen at http://www.comedyschoolvideos.com/
