January Sonnets is the second sequence in the Calendar Sonettos. Written thirteen years after the December Sonnets, this collection documents the poet's re-introduction to the sonnet and his pressings concerns. The sequence includes translation from Petrarch, the 14th century Italian master of Sonnets, and the under-celebrated Gaspara Stampa.
