I have been a writer since I wasfifteen years old. I loved my English literature lesson when we were told towrite a composition. Most times we were given a theme. But my favourite timewas when I had a blank page and could write what I pleased - adventures in wildjungles, ancient castles, Cornish smugglers' coves, capturing foreign spies andout-witting aliens from space.
My serious writing started with short stories and winning competitions, then anovella, and on to a full-length novel. Experimenting with genre -love, crime, mystery, fantasy, sci-fi and historical. Here I found my niche - nowI write Romantic Historical novels set in the Georgian/Regency era with dashingheroes, spirited heroines and wicked villains. I love getting lost in theresearch.
I am a member of the RomanticNovelists' Association. At their Golden Anniversary Conference year, I wasthrilled to achieve third place in the Elizabeth Goudge annual writing award.
My busy life is not only writing novels. I give talks to social, church and WIgroups, and support my local Air Ambulance unit. I donate a percentage of myfees to keep their helicopter flying the airways of Berks-Oxon-Bucks. I playbowls all year round and I am a member of Reading Writers', the oldest writinggroup in Reading, founded in 1949. I have also received their annual Don LouthAward of Achievement. While my next novel is awaiting publication, I have drawntogether my vast collection of short stories - The Kaleidoscope Series - amixture of genres, lengths and emotions.
I love the outdoor lifestyle. When ourchildren flew the nest, my adventurous husband bought a BMW 1000cc motorcycleand we exchanged family caravanning for a two wheeled magic carpet that hastaken us to the far corners of the United Kingdom and Europe.
