Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli (1469-1527) was an Italian diplomat, political philosopher, musician, poet and playwright. Peter Bondanella is a Distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature and Italian at Indiana University. Maurizio Viroli is a Professor of Politics, Princeton University.
