William Bouguereau (1825 1905) was an influential French academic painter, who taught a long succession of gifted students, primarily at the private Académie Julian in Paris. Among them, Bouguereau instructed more than two hundred young American artists. James F. Peck is Ruth G. Hardman Curator of European and American Art, The Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Damien Bartoli is a renowned Bouguereau expert and author of an extensive Bouguereau biography and catalogue raisonné (forthcoming). Charles Pearo is an authority on Elizabeth Gardner Bouguereau. Sylvia Svec is adjunct professor of Humanities and Art History at San Antonio College and Northwest Vista College, Texas.
