Hunting techniques, distinctive color patterns, and sleeping habits are among the topics discussed. Similarities to house cats are included, bringing the comparison to a level readily understood by young readers. A simplified world outline map shows on which continent the various animals live. However, a two-page layout on the "weretiger" sticks out like a sore thumb. Duran's acrylic illustrations are reminiscent of those in Disney's The Lion King. Their detail, color, and layout enhance and complete the overall appeal of the book.
