About the Author

About the authors JON HOSHIZAKI is Senior Systems Development Engineer for GMFanuc Robotics Corporation in Auburn Hills, Michigan. A preeminent robotics specialist, he developed the concept for the system that won the Society of Manufacturing Engineers 1989 LEAD Award for the 12 robot fully automated disk drive assembly system for Digital Equipment Corporation. He also developed the concept and quote for a 21 robot manufacturing system for Siemens. For Monsanto Electronic Materials, he designed the first Class 10 Cleanroom robot to go into production. As manufacturing engineer for General Electric, Carboloy Systems, he developed a 6 robot machine unloading system and CNC machining systems for exotic alloys. Mr. Hoshizaki received his BS in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and pursued Graduate Engineering Studies at the University of Michigan. EMILY BOPP is the Documentation Supervisor at GMFanuc Robotics Corporation in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She has been with GMFanuc for five years. During that time she has written and supervised the development of descriptions, operation, reference, and maintenance manuals for hardware and software products. Products documented include robots, large and small assembly, sealing, and painting systems, programming languages, offline programming software, and application packages. Previously, she developed technical training and documentation for XMCO, Inc., General Dynamics Corporation, and Chrysler Defense, Inc. She is a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). She received her BFA from Wayne State University.
