Beidelman gives his reaction to soldiering and vidid descriptions of battlefield scenes and campaigns. Through his letters the reader sees Beidelman as the war progresses, becoming bolder in articulating political views that diverge from those staunchly held by his family and a large segment of his home. Very good copy of the first edition in a good dust jacket. The dust jacket has a rip on the bottom right corner and some shelf wear. Signed by the author on May 24, 1979. 212 pages.
