About the Author

Samantha Schnur is a content creator, recipe developer, and culinary entrepreneur behind the multimedia brand Naughty Fork. A Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Samantha was born and raised in Miami, where her love of food began. Samantha launched the @thenaughtyfork Instagram page while she was still in college, originally as a way to share her favorite local restaurant finds with her community. What began as a passion project quickly took off—evolving into a full-fledged business and inspiring her to start creating restaurant-worthy dishes in her own kitchen.

Let’s cook NAUGHTY.

The kitchen is my playland, an oasis to let my inhibitions go, get creative, and try new things. I’m always looking for the next way to level up a sandwich, transform a complex restaurant dish into an approachable meal at home, or mash up the latest flavor craze into a thoughtful yet decadent recipe. A great meal arouses all sorts of pleasurable feelings, and my philosophy is to chase those. And these qualities, my friends, are what define a dish as naughty.

You may recognize me from my social media channel atthenaughtyfork. I’ve built my whole brand and professional identity on the desire to expose food at its most sumptuous. Whether it be a cheese pull, drip of sauce or egg yolk, or placing the cherry on top, there’s a true moment of extravagance in every recipe, and it’s my goal to highlight it. My channel started out over ten years ago as a place to showcase insane restaurant dishes from all over the world. Flash forward to 2020, the pandemic hit, and my content shifted. This was the pivotal moment for me and the Naughty brand. It’s when I began getting down and dirty in the kitchen, teaching myself how to make decadent creations to share with all of you. It started with re-creating restaurant meals for my home kitchen that we were all longing for during quarantine. And at first, I struggled. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve smoked up my kitchen, left something to toast under the broiler for too long, or burned the tips of my fingers from pulling apart piping hot sandwiches. But it was all so worth it, since today my platform is primarily a place where I share my own personally developed recipe creations and viral trends that have come to life, like the smashed croissant sandwich and smash burger tacos.

When it comes to my audience, I love you all. You inspire me daily to live my dream job and to always think naughty. It’s my community that gives me ideas of what recipe I should develop next, viral concepts everyone loves, and the excitement to elevate sinful dishes for your viewing pleasure. Ever since I began honing my cooking skills as a self-taught chef a few years ago, the support and motivation from the Naughty community has been incredible. Everything from my love of sandwiches, to your love of all things carbs, the creation of the smash burger taco, and so many more, my culinary think tank is endless.

After three years of developing recipes for my platform, I felt like it was time to share a collection of my classic and new recipes in writing with all of you, and so The Naughty Cookbook was born. The answer to why I wrote this cookbook hit me: I can’t wait for you to be able to cook and share these recipes with me from your own home kitchens and not just through the lens of social media. It’s a form of connection that as an influencer is sometimes hard to find.

Some of you have known me, for many years, as an over-the-top food creator who likes to make a dish shine on camera. But with this cookbook, I’m so excited to establish a deeper connection with you and my community to further share my obsession of all things indulgent and delicious; I want you to be able to join the Naughty Fork dinner party, too! Entertaining and feeding my friends and family (and really anyone I run into) is my number one hobby. It brings me the most joy to see everyone around a table enjoying my recipes and creations. This act of cooking and dining, whether it be at home or in a restaurant, is a show that I know all of you also love to experience. From picking a menu theme, to setting the table, getting dressed up (or not!), and cooking for hours from start to finish, the performance of hosting a meal is my ultimate pleasure. And let me be straight, it doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. These recipes are eaten by everyone, everywhere. Whether I’m filming in my kitchen or developing new content for a brand, my first call is my friends, neighbors, the person I just met in the lobby of my building. If you’re hungry, I can’t wait to feed you. (It’s even gotten to the point of the parking attendants in my building calling me “Miss Cookie” after I’ve given them so many leftovers.) For these exact reasons, I wanted to take my ideas and recipes from my channel and gather them into one glamorous book so mealtime can feel like a luxury.

I’m part of the club that lives to eat rather than eats to live, and I eat through more ways than just taste. Rather, I use all my senses. I want you to feel the heat of the spicy vodka rigatoni in the back of your throat, and the ultrasmooth texture of the caramelized French onion dip on the tip of your tongue, and make your whole mouth water from the juiciest filet mignon sandwich. Every recipe is built on the idea of layers of flavors and textures. It’s how I create my recipes. The idea of heat, crunch, freshness, creaminess, a hint of sweetness, and tart acid are my favorite senses coming out through every bite in my dishes. My mission with The Naughty Cookbook is for you to create the greatest mouthful of pleasurable flavors.

The videos on my channel may seem daunting or difficult to even try to re-create at home, but I’ll be the first to tell you, if I can do it, so can you. It’ll be a messy, delicious experience, and honestly not as difficult to master as you’d think. Just roll up your sleeves and get ready to have fun and make mistakes (like setting off the smoke detector from searing a steak), like I did and still even do. I want The Naughty Cookbook to function for you both as a glamorous coffee table book and have several smudge marks and dog-eared pages from playing in the kitchen. My whole goal when it comes to being in the kitchen is flirtatious fun. Whether you’re cooking for yourself, a hot new date, or a group of friends and family, it’s the ultimate sign of compassion and love anyone will appreciate. So go pick a recipe, grab those ingredients, and let’s cook naughty.
