The Templars, Two Kings and a Pope, is the novelized reconstruction of a crucial 25-year period in Templar history, before the Order of the Temple was disbanded. At one level, this is the story of a covert war, of the secret organization known as The Brotherhood, and of the one man who stood at the center; a Swiss named Lord Otto de Grandson who became England's King Edward I right-hand man. At another level, this is a spiritual story about Jesus' secret teachings that he reserved for the select few. These teachings became the Brotherhood's reason for being, why they fought their covert war against France's King Philip IV, and the motivation behind their quest for egalitarian governance, a resurgence of democracy that led to the creation of Switzerland, the French revolution and the United States.

From the Publisher:
Four months before the public release of this novel on April 3rd 2009, we offered advanced review copies for sale on the author's website. I was surprised by the excitement the book generated. I learned that there are present-day Templars. One called this book "a must read for the modern Templar." Masons also welcomed the novel, apparently surpised and elated that someone would write about their own history; they revere their Templar origins, and in their principal publication, Knight Templar Magazine, state: "Unlike most fiction about the Templars, this exciting historical novel has been painstakingly researched...the detail is incredibly accurate, so if you are interested in the day-to-day lives of the ancient Templars, here is presented an opportunity to learn about them..." Most all of the comments were highly complmentary: "One of the best books I have ever read" and "I couldn't put it down," "thank you for sharing this book," "It touched me profoundly" "I've read it three times already." Personally, it's a rare pleasure to launch a book such as this.
From the Author:
I started reading about the Knights Templar as a teenager, but it wasn't until seven years ago that I concluded that they had been horribly maligned and miunderstood. I resolved to do justice to their story, and I began my research in earnest. In the process I discovered the two salient findings that made this novel possible, one was Lord Otto de Grandson, who up to now had been largely unknown and ignored. I hope to correct this. The second finding was the Gnostic element to the Templars. In those days Gnosticism was a heresy and there were many secret organizations that sprung up to practice "going inside to find God," the original Gnosticism. The Brotherhood was one such prganization, but they operated from within the Knights Templar. Perhaps because of my own mystical practice, at this juncture I found myself identifying with the Templars I was writing about. They became flesh and blood and I felt their passions, their pain, but also their sense of honor and purpose. It's almost as though I became one of them. This book is as honest a portrayal as I could make it. There as those who disagree with my interpretation of events, but I feel comfortable with the evidence I found. I didn't make anything up. No one will ever know the exact truth of what happened 700 years ago, but I believe this novel comes close.
