From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K-- Animals and the sounds they make is a subject with universal appeal. Old MacDonald's farm may be the most familiar celebration of this fascination, although there are many others. Koch takes a quick peek into the woods, a pond, the jungle, a farm, and the mountains. In each setting, three creatures are singled out, and a sound is identified for each. There is little to fault or praise in the sparse narrative--"ducks quack," "lions roar"; however, some of the subjects aren't exactly common ones (marmots), and it is curious that the cricket is identified with the pond. The watercolor paintings are pleasing in their simplicity. The balance of somber and bold colors seems appropriate to the selective realism of the illustrative style. There might be cause to worry about the little elephant who is supposed to "trumpet" with its trunk tucked into its mouth, but the young do like to experiment. A colorful concept book. --Jody McCoy, Casady School, Oklahoma City

From Publishers Weekly:
The very essence of simplicity, this book introduces readers to animal sounds as well as the habitats--woods, barnyard, jungle--where the critters may be found. The text is minimal ("crickets chirp"; "bears growl"), but just right for curling up and reading together and, of course, for practicing those enticing noises. For her subjects, Koch ( Just One More ) rounds up the usual suspects (pig, frog, duck) but has thrown in a couple of unfamiliar ones (mountain goat, marmot) for good measure. With a page layout that's clean as a whistle, graced by Koch's sunny, slightly impressionistic watercolors, youngest readers couldn't ask for a more cheerful, upbeat first look at animals and their noises. Ages 2-up.
