From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-6-- A biography that is as pleasurable to read as Lear's nonsense. With a sure sense of what will help explain his character, Kamen selects and describes events from Lear's life--his ill health, his desire to be an artist, his shy appreciation of other people. Lear seems very much present in this volume; his pen-and-ink drawings and Kamen's illustrations serve as a counterpoint to the events in the text. She quotes his vocabulary, poems, and letters. It is hard to do justice to this master of nonsense in so few pages, but Kamen manages a careful, solid introduction. --Kathleen Whalin, formerly at Public Library of Columbus and Franklin County, OH
