From Library Journal

This book could well serve as a model for anyone compiling a manual. Organization, layout, color photographs, and superb indexing all work together to make it an outstanding example of the genre. Almost 450 common- and even-weave fabric and canvas stitches are photographed on white ground fabric stitched with contrasting threads and, in most cases, showing the position of the needle as the stitch is made. Stitches are arranged in logical groups, graded as easy, medium, or difficult to execute, and numbered for easy reference. For each there is a written description including suggestions for using the stitch effectively, recommended fabrics and threads, historical information, and variant names. Highest recommendation.
