About the Author:

Opal Dunn is widely known as a specialist in books on early first and second language development. She has been a consultant to the Council of Europe on children's bilingual education and acts as consultant to the British Council's LearnEnglish Parents programme. She has been short-listed for the Eleanor Farjeon award for services to children's literature and in 2008 received the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun for over 30 years work with bilingual Japanese children. She lives in South London. Sally Anne Lambert studied for her BA honours in Graphic Design at Coventry Polytechnic, and was commissioned for her first book by David Wood OBE, during her final show. Sally continues to illustrate both for UK and American publishers and has held several exhibitions of her watercolours. She lives in Crosby, Merseyside.

PreSchool-A carefully selected collection of rhymes and finger plays complete with music, movement suggestions, and information for parents and caregivers on childhood developmental stages. The poems are arranged into three sections, from the very simple for newborns to the more complex for children 12 to 24 months to those for 2 or 3-year-olds. Filled with warm colors and appealing details, Lambert's watercolor illustrations pleasantly support the verses with a variety of closely focused vignettes and double-page spreads. The softly rounded people are of different ethnicities and both dads and moms interact with the babies. Schools with a preschool program may find this title helpful but public libraries will make the best use of it.
