About the Author:
Maggi Hambling's exhibitions include: National Gallery (1981), National Portrait Gallery (1983), Serpentine Gallery (1987) and Yale Center for British Arts (1991). In 1995, she won the Jerwood Painting Prize and in 1998 her monument to Oscar Wilde was unveiled at Adelaide Street facing Charing Cross Station. Public collections in this country include the Arts Council, British Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Gallery and V & A.
