The focus of the essays is the social and cultural meanings of film music, not just composers' careers and the musical support of storyline and psychology that are the center of most film music studies. About the Author:
MARK SLOBIN is a professor of music at Wesleyan University. He is the author of Fiddler on the Move: Exploring the Klezmer World (2000) and Subcultural Sounds: Micromusics of the West (1993, 2000).
