About the Author:

Dr. Friedrich Spuhler was formerly Curator of Islamic Art in Berlin-Dahlem. In 1978 he became advisor to the Farah-Diba Foundation in Teheran and set up the first Persian Carpet Museum. In 1985 he opened a gallery of antique Persian and Turkish carpets, textiles and Islamic works of art. His Publications include ""Islamic Carpets and Textiles in the Keir Collection,"" 1978; ""Denmark's Coronation Carpets,"" 1987; and a catalogue of the ""Oriental Star"" collection, 1993.
