He has immersed himself in psychoanalysis, sensory deprivation, dolphin communication, mind-altering drugs, mysticism, and spiritualism. This third-person "autobiography" is simplistic in style and so unabashed in its self-praise that it is difficult to take seriously. Certainly it fails to convince the reader that its subject is a genius rather than an arrogant eccentric. To Lilly fans, curious about his outrageous activities, perhaps this may not matter.
