About the Author:
Sylvester Allred is the world s expert on tasseleared tree squirrels that live in the southwestern United States. He teaches biology to at least 700 students every year at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He lives in a little cottage in the ponderosa pine forest under Mount Humphreys, the tallest mountain in Arizona, with his wife, Doctor Donna, his famous cat, Mystic, and his 4-pound dog Xena, the warrior princess. Diane Iverson is a hiker and backpacker, who has spent over 25 years observing and sketching wildlife. She is fascinated by all nature study, but especially enjoys bird watching. She is the author and illustrator of several children s nature books, and enjoys doing lively assemblies for elementary school children. She lives with her husband, Doug, at the edge of Granite Mountain Wilderness Area, outside Prescott, Arizona.
