Book Description Staple Bound Pamphlet. Condition: Very Good. Second Printing. Transcription of a speech given by Lorde at The Fourth Berkshire Conference on the History of Women, Mt. Holyoke College, 1978. Though never defining it, Lorde notes the erotic as a resource within women, opposed to the pornographic, linked to joy, the life force, and shared feelings. Later scholars used her ideas as a foundation for critiques of modern hypersexualized culture. The copyright page notes that 250 copies were distributed at a San Francisco conference in 1978; we believe there was another trade printing in 1978, cover price $1, and this is the second trade printing, 1982 (as stated, but the third printing overall), cover price $2. Scarce in any printing. Third in the Out & Out pamphlet series "documenting ideas important in the evolution of lesbianism/feminism". Stapled pamphlet, as pictured. Light wear, some fading to covers, minor creasing, edges of first page tanned. Clean & unmarked; [12] pages, of which 8 comprise the text of Lorde's remarks. Size: 5½" by 8¼".
