John and David Elers were Dutch born silversmiths who came to London in the 1680's. In the early 1690's they set up a pottery at Vauxhall, and at Dimsdale Hall, Staffordshire. Although their potting in England was of short duration, they did achieve a quality in their unglazed red stoneware that would not be equalled for some seventy years. Useful Appendices, Bibliography.
