The Northamptonshire village of Faxton, always isolated, gradually fell into ruin and was abandoned in the twentieth century. The last Rector of Faxton was W.M. Watkins-Pitchford, the father of Denys Watkins-Pitchford, better known as "BB", the author and illustrator.
