A contemporary romance novel. Mail-order brides - ads for them are everywhere, in "scandal magazines", in your home town newspapers across the United States, in trade journals, in the rural electric co-op's monthly magazine... And there's even a magazine, ALASKA MEN, that features eligible Alaskan bachelors. Do women ever respond to these ads? What are the resulting relationships like?

From the Author:
With this book, as with my others, my first objective was to portray a true picture of an aspect of the Alaska I love... and, of course, to entertain.
From the Back Cover:
One rainy Chicago night Annie settled down to read the scandal magazine. In the personals, she read, "ALASKAN MEN. Rugged manly men, warm and loving, in their thirties, seek sensitive caring wives to share a fulfilling life in the wilderness. Tired of the city, yearning for romance and adventure, Annie answered the ad and soon found herself on an airplane bound for Alaska... a mail-order bride.

After the wedding, as they traveled the narrow wilderness path cross country to their home, Annie's handsome, loving, new husband Kent suddenly seemed slightly sinister, a gun toting stranger. Across several creeks, deep in the forest, the path ended at his rustic cabin. Wet and cold from a tumble into the creek, frightened by a confrontation with a moose along the trail, she shivered and stared in dismay at the primitive cabin that loomed, dark and forbidding, from the night.

Later, as Kent pulled Annie into his arms, and began to explore her body, she felt vulnerable and alone - trapped in the sub-Arctic wilderness, among wolves and bears, and at the mercy of a stranger. Could she be happy here? Did she have what it takes to be a good wife in this forbidding land?
