Brave Women is a humorous look at the lives of five women in group therapy and their comically flawed psychologist/leader, Diane Turner. In far greater need of counseling than any of the members of the group, Diane is a woman "in search of the perfect moisturizer" who is, incidentally, addicted to dating married men. We also meet Missy, a woman so nondescript her driver's license practically states it; her mother-in-law Estelle, a chain-smoker who is "a true artist" at interpersonal aggression; Kyle and Judy, the lesbian couple who fell in love in group therapy and want to have a baby together; and "Carla", the mysterious woman in the wig and sunglasses who is very careful to avoid giving specifics agout herself.

We also meet other interesting characters, among them Kebashnik native Yelena Helgit, who believes that the plumber fixing her pipes is her long-lost love Slak Yorvik, and who once called herself a Brave Woman as well.

By the end of the novel all of the characters discover things about themselves and each other, both separately and together, and change as a result of those discoveries.
