The book chronicles her time at Coqualeetza Residential School in Saris B.C. which was the largest Protestant Indian School in Canada. Dorothy writes from her earliest childhood memories to her graduation and beyond. She reflects on some of the local history of the Fraser Valley and the Pacific Coast. Dorothy also gives us an insight to the Native lifestyle in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

She is a living example of the successful era of the native residential school.

About the Author:
Dorothy Matheson is the granddaughter of Princess Elizabeth Deeks of the Tsimshean Tribe of Port Simpson, B.C. She was the youngest of five children born to George and Agnes Matheson, and grew up to marry Louis McIvor in 1932, enjoying forty-five years of marriage. She spent several years at the protestant native residential school called Coqualeetza, located in Sardis, B.C. She now lives in Princeton, B.C.
