About the Author:

Dr. Gilbert-Barness was born in Sydney, Australia and received her medical degree from the University of Sydney and completed her residencies in London and at Harvard University in Pathology and Pediatrics. She spent 23 years at the University of Wisconsin and is now a distinguished Professor Emeritus there. She is presently Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine-Pediatrics and, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.
