About the Author
Velile Notshulwana was born in Kwazakhele Township in the outskirts of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He is a clinical psychologist and his scholarly work has been deveoted to crime prevention, public health and the reintegration of offenders into the community.
Velile is currently editing his second and third books: Education & Democracy: A View from Soweto and AIDS in South Africa: A Psychosocial Perspective, which are due in the fall of 2003 and 2004 respectively. He is a Professor of psychology at the New Jersey City Unversity.
