The detailed training history provided by a properly-kept training log provides both trainee and coach with the necessary information to select appropriate weight or repetition changes between workouts. It helps determine whether a particular training organization is useful in achieving training goals, and it reveals trends in training and schedule compliance, both of which having a definite bearing on progress. A log should also include the trainee s subjective impressions of the quality of the work done in the training session and any other information that might later serve a purpose.
