About the Author:

Billie Travalini’s writing has been published in Another Chicago Magazine, Revue Review, The Moth, Writers on Writing: The Art of the Short Story, The Journal of Caribbean Literatures, and Gargoyle, among others. An earlier version of Blood Sisters, titled Bloodsisters, was a finalist for the Bakeless Literary Prize and won the Lewis Clark Discovery Prize. She edited No Place Like Here: An Anthology of Southern Delaware Poetry and Prose, 2012; Teaching Troubled Youth: A Practical Pedagogical Approach, 2008; guest edited The Delaware Poetry Review, 2014; and co-edited with Fleda Brown The Mason-Dixon Line: An Anthology of Contemporary Delaware Writers, 2008. She is the recipient of fellowships in poetry and fiction from the Delaware Division of the Arts, teaches at Wilmington University, and is a popular workshop leader and presenter. A lifelong advocate for the mentally ill and their families, Travalini lives in North Wilmington and is busy at work on Independence Day, a short story collection, and Sunshine, a sequel to Blood Sisters.
