DIGENE FARRAR was in New York City, launching the modeling career she’d always dreamed of. The morning of September 11, 2001, she was two blocks away when the first jet crashed into the World Trade Center. Her instincts as a registered nurse led her to the scene to help, and she was there when the second jet hit. In a blink, trauma reactivated the secret trauma buried deep…of childhood sexual abuse. “Not My Secret to Keep” is a stirring step-by-step account of self discovery, healing, and transformation. You observe up close how she suffered from PTSD and dealt with physical and emotional injury. You listen in on her deep inner work with therapists in her quest to heal. “Not My Secret to Keep” is a practical book that can be utilized by survivors, their families, friends and anyone working in professions who care for those suffering from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

DIGENE FARRAR is a registered nurse, model, and actor. Also a gifted speaker, she has lectured to both medical professionals and college-age women on health-care issues and motivational topics. She has mentored young women through the Big Sisters and YWCA GirlsFirst organizations. Determined to empower those who have survived childhood sexual abuse, she speaks about her journey from hate, shame, and fear to acceptance, healing, and self-love. Digene and her husband live in Seattle, Washington.
Cynthia J. Hurn coauthors nonfiction books of inspiring and transformational content that touch the heart and feed the soul. Her background in psychology, counseling, creative writing, plus rescue work with animals and wild birds brings a unique mixture of science, empathy, and intuitive understanding to her award-winning work. Her books include "No Buddy Left Behind: Bringing US Troops' Dogs and Cats Safely Home from the Combat Zone" and "The Art of Healing: Uncovering Your Inner Wisdom and Potential for Self-Healing." Cynthia currently lives in Somerset, England.
“She skillfully interweaves anecdotes about her career… with recollections of her efforts to work through her experiences… Her writing is candid and unflinching as she unpacks the connections between the ‘lack of power’ she felt as a child and ‘the sense of vulnerability’ she had on 9/11. A wrenching but inspiring account of a woman’s journey to self-acceptance.”
