Sex drugs and rock-and-roll is the credo of the 1960s!
The Last Hippy Poet of the Woodstock Generation reveals why that is true. To accurately describe the '60s you had to live it, and award-winning author, C. Steven Blue, lived it to the fullest.
As one of the original hippies on Hollywood's iconic Sunset Strip, Blue takes us on a kaleidoscopic exploration inside a tumultuous era, where the hippy counterculture speaks truth to power, to try and create a better world.
Set against the backdrop of Hollywood's glitz, glamour, and blossoming rock-and-roll culture of famous L.A. bands, like The Doors, The Beach Boys, and Sonny & Cher, Blue's narrative delves deep into the heart of the counterculture movement, where generations collide in a whirlwind of passion and rebellion.
But The Last Hippy Poet of the Woodstock Generation is more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It is a uniquely hybrid book, seamlessly blending memoir, poetry, and artwork to create a raw and honest portrayal of teenage love, psychedelic exploration, and the quest for truth in a changing world.
From the anti-war riots to the psychedelic haze of Woodstock, Blue's vivid storytelling transports readers to a time of peace, love, and revolution.
And with its recent accolades, including the prestigious Best Book Award for 2023, The Last Hippy Poet of the Woodstock Generation has solidified its place as a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the spirit of the '60s.
Prepare to be swept away by Blue's captivating prose, as he invites you to join him on a journey through the past through his own story—a journey that will leave you inspired, entertained, and forever changed.

I began writing The Last Hippy Poet of the Woodstock Generation during the first months of the Pandemic lockdown in 2020. It started with me looking back at poetry I wrote during my teenage years in Hollywood, CA, during the 1960s. That led me to re-discovering much of the artwork I created back then as well. Using my own life stories of teenage angst that inspired these emotional, confessional poems of my youth, I crafted a hybrid book that blends prose, poetry, and artwork to create this one-of-a-kind book.
It is a book that chronicles the extraordinary journey of my teens and twenties on the streets of Hollywood:
—Where I worked in a famous teenage nightclub on the Sunset Strip as a DJ, at the tender age of 16, alongside some of the most famous L.A. bands of the time.
—Where, in high school, I became a regular dancer on American Bandstand, Shebang, and other teen dance shows that were popular on TV back then.
—Where I became one of the original Hippies on the Sunset Strip, discovered Psychedelics (LSD was still legal in 1966), and participated in the Counterculture Revolution.
—Where I marched in the streets with my fellow hippies and war protestors, speaking truth to power to our parents' generation; in the process creating the 'Generation Gap' between us and the materialistic world we were trying to change.
These stories poured out of me during the Covid 19 Pandemic, and now you can experience them all, and more, in my newest book, The Last Hippy Poet of the Woodstock Generation, which has already garnered four national literary awards, and is an official entry for The Pulitzer Prize in Literature.
