Odyssey is the story of Michael Hunter in the Us Navy, his growing faith, and forbidden love. Hunter is determined to be patient and learn but he is constantly thrust into situations that not only try his patience but his faith as well. He meets Sally, a black woman marine, and falls in love contrary to the approved conventions of society or the Navy of the sixties. Thrown into dangerous situations, he must learn to lead and to fight for his life and his friends; his faith is challenged by the violence of combat. The shy youth from high school gives way to the confident leader as Hunter's character and spirit develop. Hunter continues to pursue his dream of flying while pursuing a strong relationship with God as he learns to trust in the Lord with all his heart.
