Matam Press began in Tucson, Arizona on March 1, 1999 as a publishing house whose central concern is alternative views and discourse. This is the first publishing house to include a focus on the Divine Mother and Her global legacy, particularly among people of African descent. Most books are focused on animal totemism, generally. But rarely does a book really dig deep into the mythology of a particular species as this one does. And it shows just how extensive and complex mythology is among native fellows. Ancient belief systems see all creation as sacred and emanating energy and intelligence. Unlike today where certain groups or certain castes are divine, many ancient people see the whole world as one great -divine body, all intimately interconnected.
