Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at age 42, I finally had a reason for the violent mood swings that were stealing my life away. As I went through therapy, and came to terms with this chronic disease, I often wrote poetry. Thinking the poems might help others, I decided to share them.

"Touched by Madness Touched by Grace" is more than a collection of poems, it's a journey. A journey through the darkness of mental illness and ultimately into the light of love. The poems allow the reader, a glimpse into the mind of someone who struggles daily in the quest for saneness. While browsing through the pages, spiritual growth is evident, as the healing process unfolds.
It's my hope that by sharing my story, a dialogue will begin amongst those affected, either directly or indirectly, by mental illness. The last few lines on page 10, sum it up quite well: "Mental illness is painful for all those involved. It hurts and it takes and it kills. But, with knowledge there's hope and help if we ask. It's time to expose this disease. Bring light it its pain and those it affects, am I willing to start with me?"
