To a passerby strolling Boulevard St. Germain, the man and woman ensconced at the café table could be lovers. In truth, they are nearly strangers, an American writer recording the wartime experiences of a dying Frenchwoman. Christine came of age in Paris in 1937, embarking upon a series of love affairs and a career as a journalist in the glittering city of lights, living in true French fashion, with irrepressible *joie de vivre*...even as Adolf Hitler's fascist regime begins its march into France. When Christine pens a series of articles criticizing the appeasement of the Germans, she draws the ire of Nazi spies. Her Jewish husband is arrested, leaving Christine with a brutal choice: succumb to a liaison with a Nazi General or forfeit her life and that of her family. As this intriguing novel unfolds, Christine's deep courage and unfaltering faith in the face of overwhelming odds becomes an object lesson in the importance of individual choice and the power of love and forgiveness. This second edition contains adult language and situations. An Abrideged version is available with the same title: For the Love of Paris - Abridged. The Abridged version does not contain adult language.

From the Author:
This is a novel somewhat in the style of The Prophet by Kahil Gibran with a series of inspirational but realistic events that follow and challenge history.  For the Love of Paris is written by a man but it is in the person of a woman, the elegant and lucious Christine that the story unfolds.  She presents history, follows many paths in the city of lights and gives the reader insight into the epic battle between fate and human will.  Christine's love affairs lead to love.  Her love leads to betrayal for survival.  In her story, the horror of the Nazi Occupation impacts on real people with real lives.  Ultimately, there are lessons of forgiveness and expanded definitions of love.
From the Back Cover:
Paris, 1945: in a café overlooking the Boulevard St. Germain, a Frenchwoman shares her heartbreaking story with an American stranger.  As she weaves her history for her enchanted listener, the glamorous world of pre-war Paris unfolds.  She comes of age in the city of lights in 1936, embarking upon two love affairs and a career as a journalist.  When the political climate of Europe shifts and the Nazis invade France, her scathing rhetoric against Hitler places her squarely on the Nazis' radar.  Her Jewish husband is arrested and deported and she is forced into a dangerous liaison with a Nazi general, a relationship upon which the fate of the entire city of Paris eventually hinges. "For the Love of Paris" is an inspiring work of historical fiction about the power of fate, choice, love, betrayal and forgiveness.
