About the Author:

Ken McCormack, born in Louisiana, grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended the University of New Mexico, B.A., M.A. and University of California at Berkeley as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He worked as a teacher of English and taught courses in composition and the literature of nonviolence. He also has worked as a journalist. McCormack is an award-winning photographer, and his writing has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers. During the Sixties he was politically active in the civil rights and peace movements. In 1971, he began the practice of Kriya Yoga with The Center for Spiritual Awareness and has continued to explore different spiritual practices. He recently served as an associate editor of The PeaceWorker, and has been on the board of Oregon PeaceWorks and Peace Village. He has also served on the board Faith Community Services (faithcommunityservices.org), a community of non-profits that are working to relieve poverty and homelessness. He lives on the Oregon Coast with his wife, Carol, and attends the Congregational (United Church of Christ) Church.
