Synopsis
From the moment Heather Dane set foot on eerie Dameron Island, she had a foreboding of danger. She had come here to work as a typist for wealthy Amelia Dameron, and the old woman welcomed her with warmth. Attractive, unpredictable Scott Jordan also seemed friendly. But an air of hatred and timeless feuds permeated the island. And someone did not want the girl here, someone who had already threatened her in the dark, someone who spied on her constantly.
Heather had no idea who her secret enemy could be. Was it Byron, her employer's spoiled son? Or his timid wife Ella? Was it the glamorous Fiona Anders, who seemed jealous of Scott's interest in her? Or was it one of the others living at Dameron House? And exactly how far would he or she go to drive Heather away from this hostile place?

About the Author
James Rhodes, the author of 27 novels, (26 of them were mysteries published by AVALON) was reared in Nebraska but is a California transplant. Currently retired and devoted full time to writing, he's had over 90 short stories published--mostly in the juvenile field. He's also had three one act plays published by Ethridge Publications.
