About the Author:
Mike Parker was born in Digby County and grew up with the guiding and lumbering traditions of southwestern Nova Scotia. Early in his career, Mike acquired a keen interest in the stories and the lore of the woodsman and the wilderness. The author of numerous books including Guide of the North Woods, Woodchips and Beans, and Running the Guantlet, Mike Parker lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Page 2 of the introduction to this 239 page account speaks of a Broad Arrow Policy instituted in 1728. It had the effect of preserving (white pine) trees of certain dimensions for ships masts. LEARN more about : ton timber, Rossignol, Mersey camps, Sheet Harbour, pit prop, Clyde River, short drives, slack boom, horse cocks, Pictou County line, pork rind, orange crates, and fifty-pound cap. Volume has a scattering of b/w photographs. It opens with a b/w map of Nova Scotia showing boundaries of counties. Cond ; Paper wrapper is maroon with white lettering. Cover photo is of eight men in a log camp - circa 1902. Volume is clean and square and bright. No names nor marks. No tears. Very minor soft corners. Almost giftable !!
